Asan Memorial Educational Institutions are governed by Asan Memorial Association, Chennai, which was established in 1965 as a tribute to the memory of Mahakavi Kumaranasan, the late poet laureate and social reformer of Kerala. The founding members of the association and the current members are eminent personalities such as educationists, industrialists,social workers etc. who are dedicated to the cause of education.

Frequency of the Board meetings and Academic Advisory body
The managing committee meets once in three months to discuss the progress in various fields and suggests improvements.
Organizational chart and processes
Nature of the Extent of involvement of faculty and students in academic affairs/improvements:
1. A Student Counselor from among the staff going to that class is appointed for every 20 students.
2. A class committee is constituted with all the staff going to the class as members, a staff not going to the class as Chair person and HOD of the department as Coordinator .A Class committee meeting is held every month to discuss the problems faced by the staff and students, progress of the students and weak students are identified. Special attention is given to the weak students to make them come up to the required standard.
3. Periodic counseling is held by the student counselors with the students of their group to find out their personal as well as academic problems which affect their academic performance and suggestions are made for their improvement.
4. Periodic department meetings with staff and students are held to discuss various issues affecting the progress of the students and suitable remedial measures are taken then and there.
5. Staff meetings are held with HODs and Principal to discuss the overall issues concerning the entire college and steps taken to remedy any anomaly present.
6. Periodic student feedbacks on teacher’s performance in the particular subjects are conducted every semester and the results are summarized by the HOD and a proper feedback is given to the concerned staff for their improvement.
7. Additional coaching classes for students in their failed subjects are conducted regularly to improve the overall results.
8. Lesson plans and notes of lesson are prepared by the staff well in advance at the start of the semester for smooth delivery of the subject knowledge to the students.
9. Suitable text and reference books, both by Indian and foreign authors are selected by the staff and sufficient copies of such books are made available in the library.
10. Students are monitored through regular tests and model examinations (Two unit tests and one model examination) and the results are informed to the parents of the students through regular mail. The parents of worst performance case students are requested to meet the class in-charge, the HOD and the Principal as the case may be and suitable actions taken.
Mechanism/Norms & Procedure for democratic / good Governance
1. The institution is governed by Asan Memorial Association with a governing body consisting of eminent personalities from Education, business and industry.
2. The overall activities of the college are managed by a managing committee which meets once in three months to discuss the progress and advice the measures to be taken for the smooth functioning of the college. This committee consists of reputed members of the governing council and the Principal as the Convener, one senior faculty member and one HOD (by rotation) as members. The minutes of the proceedings is recorded and circulated to the members for further action.
3. A college calendar with the rules and regulation of the college is published every year and a copy given to every student. An identity card is issued to both students and staff. A model dress code and a code of conduct given in the calendar are to be strictly
followed both by students and staff.
4. A class teacher and student representative for boys and girls are nominated for every class to look into the disciplined conduct of the class during class hours and outside.
5. Periodic student meetings with the HOD, the Principal and the Executive Director are held regularly to solicit student views on various issues and suitable remedial measures are taken then and there. In addition, students are at liberty to meet the HOD, the Principal and the Executive Director on their own individually to represent their problems.
6. Periodic staff meetings are held with HODs, Principal and the Executive Director to discuss the overall issues concerning the entire college and steps taken to remedy any anomaly present. In addition, faculty and staff are at liberty to meet the HOD, the Principal and the Executive Director on their own individually to represent their problems.
7. Student’s feedback is taken subject wise & faculty wise at the end of every semester by independent persons and results are collated, strength and weakness are identified and used for counseling the faculty for improvement.
Student Feedback on Institutional Governance/faculty performance
The students feedback is taken subject wise & faculty wise at the end of every semester. The Feedback format is given below. The students fill up the feedback for each item of the questionnaire. This is evaluated and collated with the performance of the class in the University examination and use to counsel the teacher to effect improvement in various aspects.
